Our Team

  • Lucy is one of our student/player coaches, with several years of experience playing school and representative basketball out West. She is excited to grow and empower girls basketball in West Auckland, coaching on Ahi Club nights. Lucy is currently studying a joint degree of Commerce and Sport, Health and Physical Education at the University of Auckland and plays U20 rep basketball.

  • Eva is one of our student/player coaches who has 8 years of playing experience and is excited to have the opportunity to share some of her knowledge by coaching on club nights outside of the high school season. Eva is on the Rangitoto College senior girls premier team and plays U18 rep basketball.

  • I’m proud to serve as a Board Member of Ahi Basketball, helping support the growth of a club that has become an important part of my family’s life. I first became involved through my daughter, Kurahaupō, and, like many in community sport, I simply volunteered where I could. That involvement has grown into coaching, team management, and now governance.

    Outside of Ahi, I coach basketball at Auckland Girls' Grammar School and am involved in representative basketball with WWABI. Professionally, I’m the Golf Operations Manager at Auckland Golf, where I oversee major district tournaments, interclub competitions, and the representative golf programme.

    I’m passionate about creating positive sporting environments where young people can build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and enjoy being part of a strong, supportive whānau.

JOIN OUR TEAM

  • 25+ years involvement with basketball as a player and coach. Played First Division Women’s Basketball for Waitakere, represented New Zealand at Age Group level, and was part of the Emerging Tall Ferns programme. Has been coaching for 6-7 years and loves helping young players develop their skills and confidence in the game. Mum of 4 children and a Project Manager/Marketing Assistant by day.

  • Over 35 years of involvement with basketball as a player, coach, and basketball club founder. Dan played up to NZ First Division level before retiring from competitive basketball at age 18 to pursue a business career. He has 2× 3rd Division National titles with Waitakere as a player. He’s been coaching now for over 10 years (8 years at representative level). Husband and father of 3 children who all play basketball. Currently living a mission to get girls playing basketball and to build a sustainable high achieving club that competes with the best!
